About Me

I’m Zach, founder of Beyond Mountains Performance.

Sport has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. In my 20s, that meant competitive sailing and training alongside the national team in the Canadian Olympic sailing Team. Over time, my focus shifted away from the water and toward a very different kind of challenge — endurance racing, adventure sports and the mountains.

Since then, I’ve built my athletic life around pushing the boundaries between endurance, strength and adventure. I’ve competed in running and endurance events, raced multi-day expedition adventure races, competed at the Adventure Racing World Championships, and taken on mountain objectives where performance is measured in hours and days rather than minutes.

But I’ve never wanted to be purely an endurance athlete.

I genuinely love gym culture — lifting, building muscle, getting stronger and chasing measurable progress. I believe strength belongs alongside endurance, especially for athletes who want to do more outside the gym.

That combination is what shaped Beyond Mountains Performance.

My approach is about building athletes who don’t have to choose one identity. You can be strong and have an engine. You can build muscle and still move efficiently through the mountains. You can chase numbers in the gym while preparing for a race, expedition or weekend objective.

For me, training has always been about becoming more capable — in the gym, in the mountains, and wherever the next adventure leads.
